Website Visitors - Who are they

Finding out what people are interested in makes generating business easier. Who are the people that are visiting your website? Google data analytics helps you to build a clear picture of your guests including their age, gender, location, and interests. With the information from Google analytics reports marketers can target niche groups, revenue and distribution teams can segment audiences and create targeted campaigns.

How are people finding your website?

Google Analytics allows users to understand which channels visitors are using to get to your website. If you are investing in Facebook ads, sharing links with visitor attractions, theatres, bars and restaurants, you can see which of these channels sends your website the most visitors. Once you know what interests your website visitors you can create targeted packages for promotion.

What people are looking for on your website?

Using Google Analytics allows you to collect data and to see what content is of interest to visitors. How people behave on your website, what page to the go-to, and how long they spend on each page. You can see what pages led visitors to make a booking. Did they look at your bedroom options, your restaurant or things to do in the area? With this information, you can target your efforts on the website content that is most likely to lead to a booking at your property.

Top Tip: Set objectives, know what you want to achieve and keep an eye on your goals.

"Although learning Google Analytics is not an overnight process, it is an extremely useful tool to have at your disposal. After all, it is vital for hotel marketing managers to set clear objectives so that appropriate goals can be defined and tracked on websites." (Clockwork Marketing, 2022)

  1. I found this a seamless read from start to finish. The Stimulating open questions helped capture the imagination of the reader and ensures the target audience reads on. This blog post is visually engaging e.g. The font size, highlighted headings and block sections makes it easy to navigate the content. The final paragraph explains clearly how google analytics will help the reader understand their customers needs and wants with an emphasis on using this information to drive sales / revenue rather than just sharing information. I liked the fact that the author promoted their own blog for connected content and supporting information.

  3. I found this blog post really clear and descriptive for hotels or B&B’s to understand why they should use Google Analytics. The headings for each section are clear and visually appealing. From reading the blog I would add that Google Analytics is free which is important to note as some hotel owners may think analytics could be expensive. I like how you note that google analytics allows a hotel to understand how customers are finding their website, it also shows what device they are using which is important to understand. I like how there are call to action buttons at the end of your blog, this is important to keep readers engaged.

  5. This is a very clear and concise insight into the benefits of Google Analytics. It is very well laid out, really easy to read and I like that you have a link to your other blog giving further insights to Google Analytics. Google analytics is an excellent way of gathering customer data and it also gives hotels the metrics on their campaign perfomances. At the end of the day there is no point in running online campaigns if you don't monitor them and you don't know what your ROI is per campaign. Google Analytics is a perfect platform this!
