Is your Property using Google Analytics?
Today all hotels have an online presence through a website where they promote and sell their hotel. For it to be successful, it is important for you to understand whether the website is accomplishing its purpose. Google Analytics, a free analytics tool provided by Google, can help you analyse your hotel's website traffic and track some key metrics to help you understand your online business better. At first, Google Analytics can seem daunting, however, once you take some time to familiarise yourself with the user-friendly interface of the Google Analytics suite, you will be on your way to growing your hotel's website and be able to measure its success. There are many benefits for your hotel to use Google data analytics but below I note five benefits for your hotel to start using Google Analytics today.
5 benefits for your hotel to use Google Analytics
- Google Analytics is free, that's correct there is no subscriptions or annual payments. Google does not charge you anything for using their analytics tool so you can spend this money elsewhere in your budget.
- You can improve your hotel’s website by completing a google analytics analysis and using real metrics such as page visitors, time on a page or bounce rates. By understanding what the most popular pages are you can use this information to focus call to action on these pages. You can also see pages that are underperforming and remove or alter them.
- Understanding your audience demographic is key to the success of your advertising and Google Analytics can help you with this as features such as an age metric, gender metric, location metrics and can even show you their interests based on sites they have visited in the past.
- Google Analytics will show you what devices your customers are using to look at your website whether it be a mobile, a tablet or a desktop computer. Mobile optimisation is very important today but, in the future, could it be a different device we are using to book hotels? Well, Google Analytics will be able to tell us what it is eventually. It will also show the actual device used be it the Samsung S9 or the Apple iPhone 12 etc.
- With the Google Analytics suite you can easily integrate it with other tools and platforms such as Google AdWords which will allow them to work together. This is convenient for your hotel to have the ability to view all information in one place. Google Analytics will show your keywords, bids, campaigns, display targeting, and much more. These combined platforms will provide you with great insights that will lead to the success of your AdWords campaigns.
It is evident that Google Analytics is a powerful tool that should be implemented by every hotel. It provides you with valuable insights and information about your website that can be used to improve its performance and more importantly increase conversions. There are many other analytical management platforms out there, but Google Analytics remains a free highly relevant solution for managing the analytics of your website.
