Benefits of Using Google Analytics for Small Hotels

Competition is fierce this 2022 and more technologies are available to travel agents and hotels designed to grab the user’s attention when they start searching for their next holiday or getaway weekend.

Everyone knows multinational companies have big teams looking at their marketing and technologies every day. But what can small Hotels do to convert a search into a booking? Here are 3 things that can help you understand Google Analytics and its benefits to help you increase the conversation rate on the web page.

1. What is Google Analytics?

It is a platform that can help you track the customer’s journey on your website. The customer’s identity is always protected. It is not possible to know who visited the website, but you can get data such as: total number of users, number of bookings made, conversion rate, average room rate for bookings made on your site, type of device used to visit your website, location i.e. city or country, etc.

2. How does Google Analytics work?

It provides you with tracking codes that can be placed on your website’s configuration. Every time a customer visits your website this will be registered under the code, and you can review all the data from your Google Analytics account.

3. Why do you need to use Google Analytics?

From a marketing perspective is important to understand what pages users visit the most, what are those pages potential customers are visiting but leave after a few seconds, known as bounce rates. There are many benefits, but the bottom line is to remember that the more you know about users’ interaction with your page the better improvement you can apply to the hotel’s website to ultimately increase the conversion rate.

After 2 years of Covid 19, customers are starting to feel more confident and are booking or thinking of reserving their next holiday. Ask your website and booking engine provider how can they help you track your customer's online behaviour by using Google Analytics so you can stay ahead of the game and keep improving your website.

  1. A very clearly written blog. I love the 3 bullet points with the main information. The image in the middle of the text is a nice design feature. I would like to read more on the topic so perhaps a link to another blog on the topic.

  2. This is a simple blog presented in snap shot style and opens with an emphasis of optimism for the future of hospitality in 2022 with "fierce competition", setting the scene for the reader. The format is visually eye catching with the size of font and positioning of the hotel bedroom picture. This blog is written in a question and answer style and provides a concise overview of google analytics in bite sized chunks which leaves the reader with some thoughts and potential next steps. My only closing suggestion would be to add a link to their own profile or company details to direct and support these queries.

  3. This is a great blog post that has some great information on the basics of Google Analytics. I like how the blog is laid out with clear headings. I like how there are call to action buttons at the end of your blog, this is important to keep readers engaged. It is important to note that the tracking code needs to be added to every page on your website that you want to track. You only need to have it once on every page. I like how you discuss today’s climate in the hospitality industry because google analytics is now more important for a hotel to use so they understand their customers.
