Benefits of Using Google Analytics for a Boutique Hotel or B&B

Are you a small hotel or B&B owner who receives guest inquiries and bookings through a website? Are you getting the best out of your web presence, including sales lead conversions? Are you providing the right information to prospective guests and understanding the visitor traffic? These are just some of the questions that can be answered by using Google Analytics.
Using Google Analytics
Most people in the hospitality industry who don’t have a digital marketing background believe that tools like google analytics are basically brain teasers best left to the ‘techies!’. However, in simple terms google analytics is a web-based tool that gives you an in-depth look at performance statistics from your hotel website. The information you would have access to is vital for any organisation. Using just some of the core elements of this tool will supply information needed to grow your hotel brand on the internet.

Google Analytics can provide the cornerstones of information needed to support your hotel sales and marketing strategy through answering the following questions –
  • How is your website is performing (how many unique visitors are you getting and what information is most popular i.e. number of clicks per page/ section)?
  • Who is looking at your website (where are they coming from and what are the demographic splits including key data points like age, gender and nationality)
  • Is it getting as many clicks on your website as you would hope to have (are you setting and measuring key performance indicators for specific campaigns or deals)?
One of the most important features of this tool is that you can access information in real-time and easily create reports to help make informed business decisions e.g. make changes to your website or create targeted campaigns based on informed statistical data.

In summary, although your business might be small, utilising tools like google analytics allows you to access large amounts of data that will increase your digital profile and maximise your presence on the world wide web.

  1. The structure of this blog is very good. The questions at the top are similar to questions that may have been typed into Google by a Hotelier that has left Google Analytics to the techies but wants to see what it is all about. The hashtags at the end is a good way of engaging the reader and getting them to progress to additional articles.

  2. This is a great blog because it explains why it is important to use Google Analytics for small businesses and highlights that this tool is not just for techies. The call to action at the end of the article is also very clever so the customer can contact Marketing Agency.

  3. A really good read with some thought-provoking questions for any hotel to answer. I like how there is call to action buttons at the end of your blog, this is important to keep readers engaged. The blog is well approached in style and answers the most important question, ‘what are the benefits for a hotel in using Google Analytics’. Another benefit of Google Analytics is that the technology is free, a word all businesses like to hear so they can put that money elsewhere in the budget. I like the imagery on the blog, it really sets up the premise of the blog.

  4. I really like the tone and approach of this blog and you really highlight the benefits of Google Analytics but also get the message across that it really is user-friendly. I love that you highlighted that many hoteliers think that Google Analytics is for the techies which is very true. You get the point across of the importance of Google Analytics to a small business!
