Benefits for Social Media Marketing for Hotels

Hello, my hospitality friends,

Welcome to our new blog post, today we want to highlight some key benefits of Social Media Marketing for Hotels. Statista research indicates that in 2021, there were an estimated 3.77 million social networking users in Ireland and rising (approximately 75 percent of the population) so in terms of access to potential customers excluding social media as part of marketing strategy is no longer an option.

Accessing and utilising social media platforms have several key benefits including:

1) Customer Reach & Cost:

Often at a lower upfront cost than traditional marketing channels (TV, Print & Radio) social media can access a much wider audience and can be delivered in real-time (i.e., does not have the same lead in and scheduling constraints).

2) Targeting:

Utilising social media allows your hotel to target specific demographics more accurately by age, gender, location, etc. Targeted marketing campaigns and messages that are more tailored/relevant to specific customer profiles have a higher likelihood of engagement which improves the return on investment. In addition, utilising different platforms also allows your Hotel to cover a multitude of portal target markets and across different media i.e. Facebook although not as popular with Millennials is still a key engagement platform that’s doesn’t limit the amount of text or images you can use, YouTube allows you to share Videos or provide virtual tours of your property, LinkedIn can be used to target professionals. while Instagram and Tiktok allow connecting with the newer generation of users in a more casual format.

3) Brand Awareness & Connection:

Direct booking to hotels (without third party fees etc) is highly sought after, so utilising campaigns and creating a ‘following’ on social media platforms will create higher brand awareness and improve the direct relationship with your customers.  In addition, the use of ‘likes’ comments and interactive features (polls/ targeted competitions, etc) allows your hotel to establish a two-way ‘connection’ with your customers that ensures they think you your property first when booking or recommending to friends/ family.
These are just some of the many benefits that Hotels can achieve via social media marketing and the team and Premium Digital are also here to help. Utilising our extensive industry knowledge, we would be happy to partner with you and help shape your plans.

  1. Mark this is a great blog with some of the key benefits of social media marketing for hotels. I feel like targeting is key for hotels and once they understand their buyer personas they can target these customers. It is important for the hotel to set out what they would like the return on investment to be before starting a campaign. Once they know what ROI they are looking for this will help them determine their targeting also. After the campaign starts they then need to monitor and adjust as they see necessary. Overall, great job!!

  3. The fact that 75% of Irish consumers use social media channels is a great highlight and this is why it is important for hoteliers to be online through their website but also social media channels. As you mentioned on this blog targeting, reaching customers and brand awareness are some of the benefits of having a social media account for a hotel, although it needs to be properly managed with a marketing plan goals and measurable targets. 4. I really like in your blogs how you make it so personable each week and your blogs have great personality. You mention that social media has several benefits so I would be inclined perhaps to mention a few more benefits and give industry-related examples for both. I would use Grammarly on your blogs so you can do a spelling and punctuation check as you go along. Finally, I love the image it's great it could actually be you!!
